“I am 40 years old, a school counselor, and was very healthy until I came down with various symptoms last year. I was worried that my joint pain would continue to get worse and prevent me from exercising and enjoying activities with my kids. I saw my general practitioner, and based upon my symptoms, was told that I might have rheumatoid arthritis (an autoimmune disease). She ordered blood work to be done and eventually I was referred to a rheumatologist.
Severe joint pain was limiting my every day routines for several months. I am an athlete that spends 4-5 days/10-15 hours a week doing Crossfit, hiking, running, or other activities. I love to exercise hard, and it is the best way for me to relieve my stress. I am also a single mom and have two boys at home, and I love to be able to run, jump and play with them. My joint pain was affecting all areas of my life: I could barely make it through my work out, I had to stop lifting weights because my hands hurt so much, I had to just watch my kids play instead of playing with them (my stress level was increasing on a daily basis because I could not exercise to relieve it), and I was becoming depressed and losing hope that my condition would get better. I could barely squeeze a tube of frosting, and I was worried that I would not be able to simply decorate cookies with my children.
I started reading about the medications prescribed to people with rheumatoid arthritis, and I was terrified of taking them. I was hoping to decrease the severity of my symptoms without medications. Although it took a while and I was worried that it wasn’t going to work at all, I now feel back to normal after being treated by Dr. Patrick. The joint pain I experienced just months ago is completely gone. I am back to my regular routine of working out and I can now lift weights again.
I had come to accept the fact that I wasn’t going to be able perform athletically like I had in the past, but now I am competing in a Crossfit competition next month. By the time I visited with the rheumatologist, my symptoms had disappeared after Dr. Patrick’s treatments and I never had to even contemplate taking prescription medications. Most of my friends and family that I told about Dr. Patrick’s approach thought it sounded strange and did not believe it would be effective. However, they now see the results, and it is obvious that I have improved dramatically. I believe that most of us have the ability to heal ourselves without taking harmful prescription medications.
Dr. Patrick simply helped my body understand what was not functioning well, and gave me the tools I needed to heal. I am so glad that I found Dr. Patrick and that I gave him a chance to treat me. I finally feel like myself again, and this whole experience has made me so grateful to be able to do little things that some people take for granted like picking up their kids, lifting a laundry basket, taking your dog on a walk, or simply running or jumping without pain. “
"I am a 43-year-old full time student. My general health is good but for 16 years I have had to deal with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Ulcerative Colitis. This resulted in abdominal adhesions, gas, bloating and overall pain. My pain made me very fatigued and crabby. When I was working the pain made me miss days of work. And I would calculate very c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y before accepting any social invitations.
While I had seen an MD rheumatologist and a chiropractor, my massage therapist recommended I give Dr. Patrick a try.
After visiting with Dr. Patrick my overall pain is far less. I don’t have to run to the restroom immediately after eating anymore because of excruciating pain. Plus, my husband loves my mood after my visits with Dr. Patrick!
I was surprised Dr. Patrick didn’t push me to change my entire lifestyle. He makes recommendations and then leaves the choices up to me. I have told others you have to be open to new ideas, but it is worth it!"
