Is Your Food Not Digesting?

If you’re like millions of other Americans, you may be frequently tired, and often just don’t have the energy to get through the day.  You may even be eating well, and taking vitamin supplements, but you still find that you just don’t have the energy to do all the things you want to do.  You may have even tried a number of other approaches that were unsuccessful.  One very important approach which you may not have considered is to improve your digestion - one of the essential, yet overlooked keys to good health.

Eating Food and Digesting Food are Two Different Processes

Food and drink are one of the greatest influences on our overall health and vitality.  Most of us probably eat anywhere from three to six times a day, so what we put in our mouths becomes very important.  Food is our fuel; our source of energy and vitality.  In theory, high quality input should give you high quality output in the form of high energy, vitality, and health.  However, for many people eating the best foods often does not yield good health, because their food may not be digesting.

Often we forget that the digestion process is how we get energy from our food.  You can eat all “the best foods” or what many experts call the “ideal” diet, but if you cannot digest what you eat, your cells will not get what they need to produce the energy your body needs to function at optimum level.  Eating foods and digesting foods are two different processes, so just because you eat something does not necessarily mean you digest it.

It’s Not What You Eat, It’s What You Digest That Counts!

The key question is how does your body digest what you eat?  If your body cannot digest the foods you are eating, those foods become toxic materials which your immune and detoxification systems must process.  You’ve probably heard the expression “you are what you eat”.  Now with what you know about the importance of digestion, it’s more accurate to say, “You are what you digest”.  Yet, how do you know if you are eating the rights foods for you?

When your body is not digesting food, symptoms appear as red flags indicating that not all is well.  Unfortunately, billions of dollars are spent every year on pharmaceuticals to relieve heartburn, excess stomach acid, bloating after eating, constipation, diarrhea, gas,Irritable bowel syndrome and other symptoms of food not digesting without ever addressing the cause, which is a compromised digestive system.

Compromised Digestion Leads to Toxicity

Incomplete digestion of food creates an environment for overgrowth of “unfriendly” bacteria, and yeast or candida in our bowels.  When food is not digesting, it actually begins to decompose and ferment in our intestines.

Decomposing food creates toxicity in several different ways.  First, fermenting food produces up to 38 different toxic chemicals which our liver must process immediately.  In addition, decomposing food sets the stage for overgrowth of harmful bacteria and yeast or candida, which in themselves produce highly toxic chemicals that the liver must work harder to process.

When a person has long term toxicity, not only is the liver compromised, but the lining of the gut becomes damaged, and undigested food particles can enter into our blood stream. This process is often known as Leaky Gut Syndrome.  When Leaky Gut occurs, our immune system is forced to fight off offending substances.  Eventually our immune system can become exhausted and serious disease may result.

Stop Treating the Symptoms and Treat the Real Cause of Digestion Problems

Many over the counter and prescription medications only mask the symptoms of digestive stress and never address the root of the problem. Antacids, while offering temporary relief from indigestion and acid reflux, actually perpetuate digestion problems by interfering with the digestion of protein, which in turn fosters bowel toxicity.

Fortunately, you can get help now for chronic digestive problems at the Digestion Relief Center.  A digestive evaluation by Dr. Patrick will help determine the foods you are not digesting, evaluate bowel toxicity, screen for yeast infection, evaluate selected mineral and vitamin levels, and identify which organs are being stressed by a compromised digestion system. Once we address the cause of your digestive problem, you can begin nourish your body and feel great again.

The digestive evaluation is a three part approach which considers your symptoms, a physical exam, and a 24 hour urine analysis to identify your digestive stressors.  After all factors are analyzed, Dr. Patrick will tell you how you can improve your digestion by avoiding offending foods, and supplementing with enzymes which are prescribed based on your own specific chemistry. You can also be desensitized to foods that may be giving you allergy-like reactions.

If you are suffering from any of the above symptoms, help is available by calling Dr. Patrick to schedule a consultation in our Chico office at (530) 899-8741.
